The 15-year-old sighed as he continued to listen to the music that played through his mother's SUV's stereo. He slumped a bit more in the seat, staring out at the scenery of Arizona passed by. Unlike what most think when they thought of a 'desert', there was knee-high grass, but because of the coming winter, it wasn't as green as it had been in the summer when the monsoons had hit. Not only that, but his father had the heater on to warm up the car - in Arizona. Halloween had long passed and November had set in harshly with a sudden cold front and gusting winds of up to about 20 or 25 miles per hour, causing small dust storms here and there. Because of the wind chill, it dropped the already-60-degree (Fahrenheit) temperature down about eight to ten degrees, maybe even twelve degrees below 60. Because of that, the young blonde wore a pair of baggy jeans and a grey hoodie and demanded the heater to be on. Damn, he hated living in Sierra Vista sometimes... It was way too windy and so goddamn cold outside in winter, but way too fucking hot in the summer.
He was pulled out of his silent bitching about the always-changing weather when he heard his father's voice break the silence (save for the Pain by Three Days Grace that played in the background). "Now aren't you glad that you didn't bring your brother along? He would've called shotgun even before we stepped out of the house, Roxas," he said with a slight chuckle, his covered blue eyes remaining on the road. Like his son's next to him, he had spiky blonde hair that stuck up in various positions (though the teenager's hair wasn't as wild and was spiked to one side). Anybody who looked at them could tell that they were father and son; or maybe older brother and younger brother.
Roxas nodded in agreement. "I know. Why do you think I suggested leaving him at home? You were the one who was insisting for Sora to tag along. Do you even know how annoying he is?" he asked with a frown. One thing you might want to know about Roxas; he hated his brother, but still loved him at the same time. He thought of the brunette as a crazy, hyperactive child who never grew up since the age of ten. But despite that, he would still run to his aid if he were hurt. But then again, brothers were supposed to do that when it came to their 'younger siblings'. (Though they were twins, Roxas had been born a few minutes before Sora, causing him to be the 'older twin'.)
Cloud frowned deeply and shook his head with a sigh. "I told you not to talk about your brother like that. You two get along just fine. Only if you two stopped fighting, then I'm sure you'd be great friends," he said.
Roxas scoffed and rolled his eyes, looking out the window. He propped his elbow up on the arm rest of the passenger door, resting his chin in his palm as his fingers curled around and framed his face. "I highly doubt that..." he muttered under his breath as he stared out the window once more, intent on not starting up a conversation again. But of course, his father had other plans for him.
"Rox? Can you reach over and change the song to Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen for me?"
He hesitated a bit before he nodded and picked up the black iPod resting in one of the cup-holders. He went to the 'Artists' section of the iPod and clicked on 'Queen'. It wasn't that hard to find the song his father had requested due to the fact that there were barely any songs on his iPod by Queen. (He would've added more, but his iPod had become completely full due to the fact that he had way too much music on his computer.) Roxas raised an eyebrow when a slow melody came on and gave a questioning look towards Cloud.
Cloud grinned, but didn't return the gaze. "This is one of the first head-banging songs," he said.
Roxas laughed softly. "Oh really? You mean one of those ones where old people do that little head bob thing?" he teased before he put his lips over his teeth. He then began to bob his head to the music, smiling like an idiot like many of the 'senior citizens' in the movies usually did when listening to music. He stopped after a few seconds and looked back at his dad with a smirk, knowing very well that he was a smart ass. But he; he had picked it up from both his mother and his father both, so nobody could blame his habits. "I don't think so, Dad."
The older blonde laughed and shook his head, pulling into the parking lot of Safeway. He slowed the truck to a stop in one of the parking, instantly locking the door when his son unbuckled himself and tried to get out. "Nuh-uh. Not yet, Roxas. You have to wait for the head-banging part to come," he said as he looked over at the younger blonde in the passenger seat. He merely chuckled at the frowning confused face, but said nothing and began to sing along to the song.
Roxas rolled his eyes at the lyrics of the song, slumping even farther in his seat. Damn, this was boring... He let out a silent annoyed sigh, shaking his head as he glanced at his father every now and then. Just how long was this song?! How long would he have to put up with this torture?! All will be clear in the next chapter~! ... No, I'm kidding. All will be clear now.
Roxas let out a shout as his father suddenly started to head bang when the guitar came on, bracing his hands against the steering wheel as he did so. He head banged so hard that his sunglasses flew off of his eyes and went somewhere in the backseat. The young blonde, now terrified by how crazy his father was acting, quickly unlocked the door and jumped out of the SUV, sprinting a few parking lot spaces away before he turned back to the open door. He frowned when his father burst out laughing, but shook his head and said nothing.
"Get back here and help me find my sunglasses. They flew off somewhere."
"Fine, fine. But don't ever do that again!"

Amazing job I must say >w< and such a fun little Memory too
Another thing is I think your choice of characters was well done too
It's a shame about your dad though
Thanks for entering, and for such a fun read.

Merlin - "You mean working in the stables is strange but a talking bird isn't?"
Arthur - "Merlin ... what have I told you about trying to be funny?"
Merlin - "That I shouldn't ..."
Arthur - "Exactly."
Haha. The ending I actually remember telling my dad. I actually told him to not do it again. XD I think I said something more along the lines of "As long as you promise to not ever do that again", but I thought that what Roxas said would fit him a bit more. XD (Not only that, but I was half asleep when I typed up about half to three fourths of it...)
Lol. I didn't think it was possible to see Cloud head bang like my father did. XD I thought it was possible to see Roxas rushing out of the car, but not the Cloud-head-bang thing. XD
Yeah. Me too. My mum would be devastated if he didn't come back in one piece. (He's also on a magazine and in the newspaper. XD I can give you more detail on that in a note, if you want me to.)
No problem. ^^ I found it quite fun to do. XD Oh and thanks for the fave.

Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where the heck is the ceiling?
Well after reading some of the fanfictions I've looked at, you can imagine even the most odd characters doing something out of the ordinary ... but yes XD Roxas would freak like you did
I'd like to know more about your dad
You are MOST welcome ^^

Lol. True, true. But even if it doesn't suit the character, it's still pretty funny to read.
Alright. ^^ I'll start typing the note now. XD
